Student Loans and Military?

Question: Hey, just curious if anyone knows about any breaks other than the soldiers and sailors relief program that might eliminate prior student loan debt before entering into the military. Any information would be helpful. To be specific , I went to college for 3 years before joining the Marines and owe about 12,000 bucks and didnt know if any grants or government aid of any kind is available for these situations.

Answer: Your best bet would be to talk to a recruiter.
I can give you info about the Army, my husband took the small sign on bonus but the large GI bill where as my roommate took the large sign on bonus and small GI bill. You would have to ask a recruiter if you can pay back current student loans with the GI bill.
From what I understand Marines don't offer sign on bonuses, they offer re-enlistment bonuses.
Good Luck to you.
