Question: About a month ago I moved out of my parents house, and into a house with my boyfriend. I planned on filling out the FAFSA in January, but I doubt my parents will rush to do their taxes for me then. Is there any way that I can get around having to put their information on it?
Answer: I think that you can choose the option for your parent "will file" in the tax area and then later when your parents have completed their taxes, then go back and fix your changes. I did this along time ago when fafsa was done by paper mail instead of the internet so I'm not sure if that option still exist. But my parents always had their taxes done early so I had no problem when filling out the fafsa. good luck. If you have trouble/questions ask your school's financial aid office.
Others:
If you are a dependent of your parents then you will need their tax information. To check your dependency status go to:
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/FOTWWebApp/fotw0...
on the application it lets you put an estimate, but you do have to go back and enter the correct information...my parents take forever to do their taxes too
you can file as independent, but then your parents can't claim you a dependent on their taxes.
The only info you need from your parents is their income. You can put that on the FAFSA without them filing.
yes if u r 18 i think. call the college and find out for sure
