Question: I am thinking of going back to school to get my AS degree in accounting, My main goal is to become a bookkeeper not to go on and become a CPA. I have at times had some difficulty with Algebra. Should you be good at math such as Algebra when taking accounting courses? What type of math can I expect to be doing for classes like accounting I,II,III.
What is the highest level of math that I will need?
Answer: - Chosen by Voters That would depend on what the program requires. Since it would be a community college program, probably completion or placement into algebra II level.
Why not shoot higher for a bachelors degree in accounting? It's far more powerful. Accounting is getting to be very competitive and those without a bachelors will be shut out as there are plenty of accounting graduates out there now.
Others:
Algebra is very easy only, you must do well in algebra to be successful in accounting. Accounting may need calculus, for economics studies. And calculus is far more difficult compared to algebra.
