Answer: Yes, I do think so. Many of them, anyway. Your grades might be a little low, but some schools give preference to minority students because they want a diverse student body. Schools don't like to talk about that, but it's often the case. You are doing the right thing by taking AP classes... that shows schools you want to work hard.
If I were you, I would apply to the highest tier schools, as well as some back-ups. See which schools offer you the best financial aid package. Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Stanford are generous. Virginia, Duke, Penn, Cornell are somewhat less so, but still more generous than average due to large endowments. Throw in a couple of second-tier private schools like Rice, BC, BU, Northwestern, USC, NYU, etc. Follow that with one or two third-tier schools. See what kinds of packages you get.
It really comes down to where you want to go to school. How far from home are you comfortable going? Do you want city or rural/suburban? Large or small school? Really think about what you want your life to be like for the next 4 years, and find the school that will facilitate that, while also giving you the best preparation for life after college.
Others:
well being in the top 1-2% and having a GPA of 3.6 means your school isnt that hard. but sure give it a shot probally not stanford of harvard or penn.. but prob cornel and illinois or michigan but dont let me scare you you probally will get inum best of luck in the future !!<3<3<3<3<3<3 and ps your very well rounded so scratch what i just said the skies the kimit haha i cant srppell today
you would have a chance at all of them. harvard and cornelare hard schools to get into.do you plan to run in college. contact the coaches they are usually very good at helping to get athletes they want to play for them into schools
You can do anything you put your mind to! Apply to them and find out...what's the worse they can say? NO! But, with your credentials...you'll get accepted to most of them!!
Good Luck!
your extra currics is what makes the difference. good luck. you have an excellent chance. what year are you currently? are you being recruited at all?
I Think you should go to University Of Michigan
Ann Arbor Campus
or
Boston University
Source(s):
U of M is for dickheads, but yeah, you can get in to a bunch of those.
ya
Source(s):
try Harvard but learn to spell it correctly.
probably not harvard
Not Harvard because they are racist and you did spell their name wrong
You stand a shot at all of those. I'm thinking:
- Harvard, Stanford, U Penn - 50/50 chance
- Michigan, Cornell - better than 50/50, with Michigan being a better shot than Cornell. You may well get into Michigan.
- U Illinois - could very well get in. I think you'll get in there.
The issue isn't your GPA, test scores or etc. re: the above. It's that some of those schools are so amazingly competitive re: admissions that they end up rejecting students who seem perfect. I mean, Harvard only lets in about 9% of its applicants, most of whom have very strong stats. Thus, although your stats look good for them, and you could well get in, it's really a 50/50 shot.
I'm thinking you will get into some on your list, and if all goes well, you could get into many of them, because your stats look good for them, but I'd also like you to have some back ups, just in case. Schools for which your ACT is perhaps a bit high for them, but your GPA is a good match, and where I think you'll probably get in. Perhaps Boston University or NYU.
