Am I UW-Madison material?

Question: I have just finished my Freshman year at UW-Parkside and I am looking to transfer to UW-Madison in the fall of 2009. My GPA sits at a 3.4 right now and I am involved in Sport and Fitness Management Club as well as Habitat for Humanity Club. I have done quit a bit of volunteer work and a I am very close friends with a successful lawyer who attended Madison and also played, coached, and announced for Madison's men's basketball team. I was wondering with my GPA the way it is, the amount of volunteer work and extracurricular activities i am involved in, and a recomendation letter from Mr. Rex Capwell. Do I have a decent shot at getting in?

Answer: As long as you eat Cheese and know the UW fight song and love Barry Alvarez, you're a lock.

GPA is fine, but use your contacts if you really want to get in. Letters of Recommendation can be the difference.

I'd say you have a good chance. I applied my Senior in h.s. and was accepted and my GPA was pretty sh!tty looking back in retrospect. I think what helped me was the huge number of extra currics which they seemed very impressed by.
So yeah, you have a chance in my opinion. Best of luck!
