Is this a good personal statement for UC Berkeley business s

Question: This is NOT the whole thing.

Race is socially constructed

The idea of "race" is an attempt to divide humanity according to skin color. In reality, we are not separate groups of people; we are much more alike than we are different. The definition has changed over time- for example: In the past, Irish people were considered a separate race that was "inferior" to the British and other Europeans. Latinos/Hispanics were not always considered a distinct race, this "new category" had to be created more recently. Some people don’t fit into any racial category- for example: Some people, such as Filipinos or North Africans, are of mixed ancestry and find it impossible to identify with a so-called "race" Our DNA shows that we all- can trace our DNA to the oldest human remains that have been found in Africa, no matter what "race" we are.

Any improvement?
I know I need to construct it better. Is it a good idea?

Answer: I think it might work if you were trying for Bolt Hall, their law school... but frankly if your trying for a business school it is generally safer to write on a subject that is less likely to get you tossed.

The reality is your essay/statement will be read by several people in admissions. Unless you know for a fact that what you are writing wont offend them or one of them don't do it. For all you know one or all of the admissions folks "don't believe race is an attempt to divide humanity"... they may take great pride in whatever race they see themselves in.

If you are writing to get into a school the best way of doing it is by sticking to things that are least likely to upset the reader.
