Program Detail : This is an introduction to basic economic analysis of prices and markets, consumer behavior, production and costs, competition, monopoly, government regulation, distribution and labor markets, and related social issues of concern. Students who successfully complete this course will: - Understand the basic priniciples of markets and supply and demand analysis - Learn the major economic variables that drive consumption and production of individual goods and services - Know how competitive markets work - Learn how to analyze the impact of different policies, such as changes in tax rates, on individual markets - Know how externalities, such as pollution, can be incorporated into the process Supervised final examination. Courses X2 and X3 may be taken at the same time; neither is a prerequisite of the other.
