Program Detail : This course explores the tools available for creating the virtual classroom and the instructional issues that arise as teachers implement them. These tools are demonstrated using real-life course materials; students draw on their own teaching experience to develop actual samples of online lectures. The educational strategies, possibilities, and pitfalls offered by e-mail technologies, text-based chat, avatar chat, and the World Wide Web are examined. Minimum hardware and software requirements: Recent versions of QuickTime Pro or Real Audio Players, recent version of a Web browser that supports Java, speaker, and microphone.
