Program Detail : This course provides an in-depth analysis of the rationale and methodologies for teaching writing in a second language. Some of the most influential and commonly cited articles on the subject are reviewed and practical techniques with their application in the classroom are emphasized. Issues of central concern to contemporary writing teachers, such as the relationship between reading and writing, reader awareness, and the processes of composition and revision, are highlighted. Instruction also focuses on how a teacher responds to and assesses student writing, as well as how to awaken the student writer's inner voice. Students work on projects or design lesson plans related to the topics presented.
